The Ship InnLet guests feel the welcome before they arrive.

A working redesign for an independent inn in Gatehouse of Fleet. The idea is to bring its riverside setting, food, rooms and people into a clearer story, with obvious routes to staying, dining and exploring Galloway.

The opportunity

Help visitors understand the inn’s character and choose between accommodation, dining and exploring the area.

What I built

A responsive, multi-page redesign with a refreshed visual hierarchy, clearer copy, a homepage slideshow, image gallery and distinct guest journeys.

The intended benefit

A more coherent first impression and an easier route to the information and booking options guests need.

A website shaped around the guest.

More than a change of colours.

01 A clearer place to start Hierarchy, navigation and photography

The preview groups the main decisions into Stay, Eat & drink, Explore and Find us. A large photographic introduction and concise copy establish the experience, with prominent links for a room or a meal.

The existing imagery is presented with more space and purpose. This case study covers website design and content presentation; it does not claim a new photography commission.

02 Distinct journeys for different guests Rooms, cottages, dining and the local area

Rooms, the cabin and Mill Cottage have their own routes. Dining brings menus, the restaurant and riverside setting together. Explore gives visitors ideas for their time in Galloway.

The preview connects to the hotel’s existing booking services. It does not replace their reservation systems.

03 Show the people and the place Storytelling and supporting detail

The owners’ story, kitchen team, food, accommodation and surroundings give the website its character. The gallery and supporting pages help guests explore beyond the first photograph.

Those details remain subject to owner review before a full launch.

04 What this could mean for your business A clearer story and customer journey

If your website contains the right information but does not feel like your business, the answer may be a better structure and presentation. This preview shows how the same business can be introduced with more focus, personality and a clearer next step.

No increase in bookings or sales is claimed. This is a design comparison and working preview.
